There are tons of different tycoon games where you build and maintain a business, like in Zoo tycoon where you need to create a zoo with attractions for visitors and then collect revenue whilst making sure you dont have too many expenses. Tycoon w/e (So this one is one of the best games for a kid.

You could also take a look at whatever popular YouTubers have made let's plays of. The first 2 are available as remasters with fancy-schmancy graphics and voice acting, and the third has those things as well.

It's also on basically any platform you could think of. It's about an errant piece of AI that gains independent thought, with a great story and beautiful music.
